ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
In the Netherlands students can follow a midwifery bachelor followed by a master degree in midwifery sciences. The midwifery bachelor is a four year full time study for students who completed a secondary school education at the higher or preparatory scientific level. Students who completed the bachelor are able to work in primary care. After graduating all students are qualified according to the CanMeds Frameworks[1] . These acquired competences enable midwives to think beyond boundaries. This allows them to analyse or to identify improvable factors in practical examples into policy options or changes in policies. Herein lies a relationship with perinatal audits. In this study we aim to explore which role midwifery education can take and which CANMEDS roles can contribute to the translation of improvable factors into new or renewed policies within a local perinatal cooperation group (PCG) regarding to perinatal mortality. Material and methods Perinatal audits are held in 69 local perinatal cooperation groups in the Netherlands. A perinatal cooperation group exists out of a hospital with a obstetric unit, paediatric unit and adherend midwifery practices. Outcomes of perinatal audits comprise improvable factors on casus of perinatal mortality, chronological reports of individual cases and recommendations to improve or adhere care to the most recent guidelines or what is considered as usual, standard care. Over the years 2017-2023 221 Cases of perinatal mortality were discussed in 176 perinatal audits and revealing 524 improvable factors and 250 recommendations. Insufficient communication between health care professionals during handover of care, insufficient documentation of policies or agreements were the most prominent improvable points of attention

DISCUSSION:
none

EVIDENCE WHERE RELEVANT:
none

KEY MESSAGE:
Lessons to improve awareness of midwifery students should focus on communication training, especially during handover of care. Simulation training can contribute to improve the skills and drills. Poster session 3 (Group B)
