ABSTRACT
THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Understand the role and function of EMA Advisory Committees in shaping European midwifery. Apply techniques for translating policy into national and local midwifery practice. Develop participatory leadership and policy advocacy skills. Use interactive tools and committee-based methods to foster professional advancement.

THE PROCESS/ACTIVITIES:
This interactive skills workshop, led by experts from the European Midwives Association (EMA), will equip midwives with practical tools and methods to translate European policy into national midwifery education, regulation, and practice. Drawing from the concrete work of EMA’s Advisory Committees, the session aims to empower midwives to actively contribute to shaping midwifery leadership, autonomy, and professional development in their countries. The workshop is structured around two interactive components: Co-creation of competency-based education frameworks aligned with EU-level recommendations. Strategy-building for the implementation of key EU policy directions into national regulatory and clinical settings. Participants will engage in small-group simulations of committee work, using real-life case scenarios developed by EMA's Advisory Committees. These exercises will include role-play, mini policy labs, and strategic planning sessions focused on current midwifery priorities such as digital competencies, prescribing rights, and continuity of the care models.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION:
The session will be conducted in a roundtable format to foster active engagement and peer-to-peer learning. Participants will receive a digital toolkit ahead of the session, including templates and frameworks for follow-up use. Flipcharts and printed kits will be provided on-site.
