ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
Midwifery is a field that requires evidence based practices and strengthening research skills among midwives is crucial for improving maternal and neonatal outcomes. Evidence in India on midwifery is lacking. With the rapid advancements in healthcare and the increasing emphasis on research-driven decision-making in advocacy efforts necessitates that midwives be equipped with the necessary skills to engage in research activities effectively. The 5-month research course was designed to strengthen the research capacity of NPMEs and NPMs and enhance theoretical understanding along with practical application to bridge the gap between academic research and clinical practice in midwifery. We additionally aim to measure the effectiveness of the customised course for NPMEs and NPMs in terms of change in their self-reported confidence and competence, as well as their experiences.

DISCUSSION:
As part of advocacy strategy, Centre for Catalyzing Change collaborated with Foundation for Research in Health Systems, to explore feasible capacity building course for NPMs-NPMEs, identified and engaged eleven NPMEs-NPMs from four Indian States to undergo research course, with 22 sessions online, and a single 5 days face-to-face workshop, specially constructed to support the participants in planning and undertaking small research studies. The course covered key aspects of scientific research, using qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and hand held participants during the research processes.

EVIDENCE WHERE RELEVANT:
By the end of the course, each research team successfully identified and refined a midwifery related research question, conducted qualitative and/or quantitative research, and applied appropriate theoretical frameworks. Participants gained practical experience in data collection, data cleaning, and analysis. Each team has compiled a comprehensive research report to demonstrate their ability to conduct independent research and contribute to evidence-based midwifery practice.

KEY MESSAGE:
Fostering research skills among midwives will encourage them to advance research in their respective fields and help build a research consortium to enhance the replicability and validity of studies across states. Poster session 3 (Group B)
