ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
The integration of innovative, participatory teaching and research methodologies into midwifery education is essential to develop autonomous, critically reflective thinking, to enhance active student participation in learning processes and thereby to sustainably improve the overall quality of academic teaching.

DISCUSSION:
Photovoice is a visual, participatory research method that enables participants to document their perspectives on a specific topic through their own photographs and to reflect on these collectively within the group. In this way subjective perceptions and social realities are made visible that would often remain obscured in traditional research approaches (Wihofszky et al., 2020).

EVIDENCE WHERE RELEVANT:
The collaborative discussion of the images supports both: the joint construction of meaning and the generation of practice-relevant findings that can be used in health promotion, environmental education and participatory policy-making (Catalani & Minkler, 2010).

KEY MESSAGE:
Integrating participatory approaches e.g. in the context of climate-sensitive work into midwifery education enhances students’ competencies in critical reflection, collaborative practice and sustainable care. Thereby strengthening their professional development and improving the quality of future maternity services. Poster session 3 (Group B)
