ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND:
Menopause significantly impacts women's health and quality of life, yet knowledge gaps persist among women and healthcare providers. Empowering women with informed choices about menopause and treatments, such as menopausal hormone therapy, is crucial to enhance autonomy and health outcomes. An informed choice requires access to knowledge and information, easy access to healthcare and treatments and freedom from stigmas and misinformation. Midwives, as women oriented healthcare professionals, have potential to play a vital role in menopausal care, supporting gender equality by addressing women’s health across the lifespan.

OBJECTIVES:
The aim of this study is to develop a menopause specific questionnaire to assess women´s access to the necessary preconditions for making informed choices about their menopausal transition.

METHODS:
A modified Delphi technique was used involving a panel of experts (including midwives, gynecologists, general practitioners, and menopausal health activists) and a Patient and Public Involvement group. Validated questionnaires on informed choice, health literacy, and decisional conflict informed the development of menopause-specific questions. The iterative process consisted of five rounds with both digital Delphi rounds and workshops. And a pilot study will be conducted to ensure clarity and feasibility.

RESULTS:
This study is ongoing and have no results available yet. The first validated tool on "Womens´ access to informed choice during their menopausal transition" will presentation at the conference.

CONCLUSIONS:
The menopause-specific questionnaire under development aims to fill critical knowledge gaps by capturing women’s knowledge, perceptions, and access to menopausal healthcare. It represents a pioneering tool for research and clinical practice in this underexplored area.
