ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
Objective: To analyze risky sexual behaviors and associated factors among university students at a public university in Paraguay during the year 2024.

DISCUSSION:
The findings reflect a high prevalence of risky sexual behaviors among university students, presenting urgent challenges in the prevention of STIs, unintended pregnancies, and the promotion of sexual health. The study suggests that interventions should consider gender differences, sociocultural dynamics, and the university environment.

EVIDENCE WHERE RELEVANT:
67.2% of students reported initiating sexual activity between the ages of 15 and 17. 43.6% reported having multiple sexual partners in the last six months, and 25.2% did not use condoms; among those who did, only 36.9% used them consistently. There was a high prevalence of oral sex (80%) and anal sex (46.3%) with low protection. Risky behaviors were significantly more common among male students, who also reported a higher number of partners, lower condom use, and greater use of digital platforms for sexual encounters. Factors such as age, sexual orientation, marital status, and employment status also showed significant associations. Logistic regression identified predictive factors such as male sex, age, early sexual debut, and number of sexual partners.

KEY MESSAGE:
Comprehensive sexuality education in university settings must be strengthened with a gender-sensitive approach, accessible information, and strategies adapted to behavioral and social risk determinants. Poster session 1 (Group A)
