ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
Dr. Ortiz was selected to participate in the Health Equity Influencers Programs (HEIP) for Nurse Educators at Mercy University in New York City. This prestigious program runs from June to November 2025. Over this time, Dr. Ortiz will expand her professional leadership influence by developing strategies to integrate equity-driven solutions and generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) into academic instruction and clinical training. As a CNM for over twenty years and educator for 14 years, she will focus this training on supporting midwifery. 1) Share best practices and a variety of AI tools relevant to midwifery education. 2) Demonstrate how these technologies can enhance professional practice and contribute to improved patient outcomes.

DISCUSSION:
AI represents a cutting-edge opportunity to enable enhance decision-making in healthcare, with significant potential to address health inequities. When supported by strategies to mitigate bias and ensure quality control, AI can reduce cost, increase diagnostic accuracy, and expand access to care. In midwifery education, AI can play a transformative role in and addressing systemic inequities, especially assisting with centering marginalized students. For example, AI-driven data analytics and insights functions can be used to illustrate students at highest risk for not passing the certification exam and suggest targeted interventions, such as improving writing and exam taking skills.

EVIDENCE WHERE RELEVANT:
A growing body of global research illustrates the impact of AI in health education and clinical practice. For example, a 2024 study by Bozkurt et. al., published in the International Nursing Review, found that the use of AI significantly improved nursing students’ knowledge acquisition, skills development, and attitudes towards learning.

KEY MESSAGE:
AI is evolving at an unprecedented pace, with developments so rapid that experts are unable to predict its capabilities even six months into the future. Every midwife, especially midwifery educators, needs to stay abreast of AI advancements to effectively support both students and patients. Poster session 3 (Group B)
