ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
To present the contribution of midwives in the provision of safe abortion and post-abortion family planning services since the implementation of health policies such as the Norms and Guidelines for Comprehensive Abortion Care (SCACF) in a context of humanitarian crisis following armed conflicts and natural disasters, in order to fully guarantee the rights of women and girls, thus combating high maternal mortality

DISCUSSION:
The Standards and Guidelines in SCACF are a key policy emanating from the publication of the Maputo Protocol in the country's official gazette. They serve as a guide for providers, including midwives, in providing safe and acceptable abortion care. However, in many countries, midwives are not allowed to provide this care

EVIDENCE WHERE RELEVANT:
13 Midwives trained by Ipas DRC in SCACF in North and South Kivu since the adoption of the Standards and Guidelines in 2021.1,188 women and girls have benefited from SCACF services since 2022 and 63% of them have received a modern contraceptive method of their choice and 5% are survivors of sexual violence.

KEY MESSAGE:
Strengthening the capacity of midwives to provide safe sexual and reproductive health care, including safe abortion care and family planning in the context of humanitarian crises, would go a long way toward reducing maternal mortality from clandestine abortions French - SRHR (including three-minute presentation competition)
