ABSTRACT
THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
This 90-minute Skills Workshop for midwives, midwifery leaders, and association staff will offer practical, evidence-based skills to successfully secure grant funding. The content is adaptable across international contexts and will empower participants to access grant resources needed to expand and strengthen the midwifery workforce, directly supporting the ICM 2026 Congress theme, "One Million More Midwives". By the end of this interactive workshop, participants will be able to: Assess their organization’s grant readiness using practical checklists and frameworks; Develop a targeted funding strategy aligned with their organizational mission and community needs; Apply best practices in grant writing, including the use of AI and logic models, to strengthen applications; Identify and evaluate partnership opportunities to enhance grant competitiveness; Connect program needs, budgets, and outcomes for more compelling funding proposals.
THE PROCESS/ACTIVITIES:
This Skills Workshop will blend brief presentations, hands-on exercises, peer discussion, and group/presenter interaction Participants will: Complete grant readiness self-assessment and discuss results in small groups; Work through a grant research funnel activity using real-world databases to inform a sample funding strategy; Describe the relevance of logic models to a successful grant application, practice identifying components of a logic model, and develop a simple logic model for their organization or program; Explore the potential and limitations of artificial intelligence tools in grant writing; Engage in a Q&A session to address specific challenges and share resources.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION:
Attendees will participate through: Small group introductions; Completion of grant readiness self-assessment and other checklists; Live demonstrations and collaborative group exercises on funding research and strategy development; Construction of a logic model that can be used in their own practice; Group reflection and exchange of final tips and takeaways.
