ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
Fortalecer la atención a las mujeres en su vida sexual y reproductiva, así como en su salud materna y perinatal, con el fin de reducir la mortalidad materno-neonatal en una Casa Materna (centro público de parto) de la Sierra Madre de Chiapas.

DISCUSSION:
In Mexico, it is estimated that there are around 20,000 traditional midwives, many of whom lack formal recognition and do not receive compensation from the public health system. There are also approximately 100 professional midwives with formal education, and 16,000 graduates in Nursing and Obstetrics. Chiapas is the state with the highest number of registered traditional midwives, making it a key territory to implement maternal care models with an intercultural approach. The Maternal House in Siltepec was inaugurated in 2023 as a result of collaboration between a public health unit and the civil organization Partners in Health. At this center, obstetric and perinatal nurses and professional midwives work closely with traditional midwives, who actively participate in consultations, referrals, and regular meetings with the health team. Since its opening, high satisfaction has been reported by users.

EVIDENCE WHERE RELEVANT:
The model promotes the exchange of knowledge between traditional medicine and allopathic medicine, strengthening community bonds and improving the quality of care. Joint work with traditional midwives and respect for local knowledge improve maternal care in rural contexts. Records since 2023 show high user satisfaction, highlighting respectful support and quality care received.

KEY MESSAGE:
Sharing knowledge among traditional practices, culture, and allopathic medicine helps strengthen the bond between the community, midwives, civil organizations, and the public health system, achieving more satisfactory and effective maternal-neonatal care. Poster session 1 (Group A)
