ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND:
Home monitoring and prenatal care of these pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes, who are followed up as outpatients without hospitalization, are of great importance. Individual and continuous midwifery care provided at home will increase the woman's adaptation to both pregnancy and the health problem she is experiencing, reduce possible complications and provide a cost-effective service.

OBJECTIVES:
This randomized controlled experimental study was conducted to determine the effect of home midwifery care given to pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes based on the continuous midwifery care model on the attitudes and self-care of pregnant women.

METHODS:
The study was conducted with 27 intervention groups and 28 control groups. Data were collected with the Pregnant Women Introduction Information Form, Gestational Diabetes Intention, Attitude and Behavior Scale (DIAB-Q) and Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire (DSCAQ). The intervention group received 6 home visits and received care and education based on the continuous midwifery care model, while the control group received routine clinical care.

RESULTS:
It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in the pre-test and post-test GDIAB-S sub-dimension scores of the intervention and control groups, and that the pregnant women in the intervention group had higher attitude, subjective norm, perceived social control, intention and planning sub-dimension means (p<0.05). It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in the pre-test and post-test DSCAQ sub-dimension scores of the intervention and control groups, and that the pregnant women in the intervention group had higher intention, exercise, blood glucose and foot care sub-dimension means (p<0.05).

CONCLUSIONS:
As result of the study, it was found that home visits based on the continuous midwifery care model was a positive effect on the attitudes and self-care of pregnant women towards diabetes
