ABSTRACT
THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Introduction Writing for publication is a crucial way to share knowledge, innovative ideas, and best practices in midwifery. Despite its importance, many midwives lack the confidence or understanding of the publication process. For those conducting research, publishing is an expected outcome. Fortunately, writing for publication is a skill that can be developed. This workshop aims to demystify the process and equip midwives with strategies and resources to inspire and support them in becoming published authors. Learning Outcomes Describe the publication process Identify suitable journals for submission Locate and interpret journal author guidelines Critique the language of titles and abstracts

THE PROCESS/ACTIVITIES:
The workshop begins with group discussions on the value of publishing midwifery research and practice. A short presentation will outline the essentials of writing for publication and journal submission requirements. Topics include selecting appropriate journals, understanding open access, identifying predatory journals, and assessing impact factors. Participants will explore tips for successful writing, such as matching journal aims, following author guidelines, and using accurate, clear, and concise language. Examples will be used to support understanding. The publication process will be explained, with emphasis on what authors can expect. Attendees will then engage in a guided writing activity, starting with the development of a working title and drafting an abstract. Although abstracts are usually written last, beginning with one can help focus new writers and give them a tangible product to develop further post-workshop.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION:
